Walsall FC will lose one of its greatest ever players on January 7th 2006.
Jorge Leitao will don the famous red shirt for the last time against Barnsley in the FA Cup 3rd round before travelling
"home" to Portugal to play for Beira Mar.
Jorge Leitao arrived at Bescot in August 2000 for £150,000. At the time many of us felt that we was taking a risk by
paying £150,000 for a striker no one really knew too much about, but looking back at his career he has been worth every penny.
Jorge owes Walsall FC nothing.
In a career lasting 5 years, Jorge Leitao has become a fans favourite. Not suprising considering he has scored 71 goals
in 258 games. His goals include the famous strikes at Charlton, the goal that saved us from relegation against Sheffield United
and probably my most memorable Jorge goal, the run from the half way line against Cambridge.
Lets all pay our good wishes and thank you messages to a man that never gave less than 110% in an age where money means
more than football.
Farewell Jorge, you will never be forgotten.
